Just popped in for a quick one...

no homo.

Yeah, so it's been a while. i've changed jobs, gotten a new car, and found myself with like no time. s'kinda why i forgot about this place.....well, not really FORGOT...it was always in the back of my mind, i just never remembered when i had time.

yeah, so i'm a contractor now, working for the cable company.....i got fired from the video store back in late '08.....s'ok though, that store got shut down on the 28th of last month....the crews are already in there, ripping out the insides of the building....so yeah....the place no longer exists.

i haven't had my main computer on in months. i'm posting this from a laptop.. i haven't heard ffrom any of my friends in a while....i guess i kinda pulled a chris. i said i'd never do that, but here i am, doing it....

sorry everyone. i'm still alive, i'm ok, i'm just not on AIM, lol....email me.

oh well, i don't have much else to say, and i hafta go to work in the morning, so it's sleep time.

I remember, i used to be more excited....

That isnt to say that there arent games coming out these days that i dont get really excited over. I get excited about alot of games.

How powerful is nostalgia really? i know thats a strange question... but i find myself asking it.
I just think about the games i have played over the last few years. Some do stand out as being great even to this day, but most of the games that hold a dear place in my heart are alot older.

Just something i've been thinking about the last few days.
Perhaps it was just part of the trappings of childhood that made things all that more exciting in general.... who knows.

Does this phenomena just apply to me or do other people sorta have this too?.

So... at the end of last month GTA4 came out for both the xbox 360 and the PS3, and even though i'm not really a big GTA fan i am really enjoying this game. According to a friend who has beaten it i'm pretty close to beating it. But i've sorta slacked off with it lately. What seems to happen with alot of games is i'll buy it, excitedly play it for a while then not play it and forget about it then buy something else. Unfortunatly i'm often not much of a completist when it comes ot games, which is why its no wonder that i never took to the achivement system on xbox 360 and felt the need to play longer on games to get extra unlocks.

Playboy X's attire is too fruity to be associated with street justice.

That said there often seems to come a point where i revisit these games play them a heap and finish the rest of them in some really short time.
The exception is oblivion, i just tend to play that game whenever i feel like playing something that i know will have content for me to enjoy for at least the foreseeable future.
Given the fact that i have the game of the year edition that includes all the expansion material, that content level is increased even more.

My Current List of Unfinished Games are as Follows:
Grand Theft Auto 4
Dark Sector
Heavenly Sword
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Folklore
Burnout Paradise
Resistance Fall of Man

.... thats like most of my PS3 games. Pretty sad actually. The only games i've really seen through to the end on my PS3 are:
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
Devil May Cry 4
Condemned 2: Bloodshot

Maybe i couldnt resist beating in the skulls of the homeless, COULD YOU?

The rest of my stack is just unfinished games and that will be added to when Haze Comes out next week.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots comes out on the 12th of june but i know i will have what it takes to see that one through to the end without interuptions. I've always been a rabid fan of Kojima's work since i played and finished the Metal Gear Solid Remake on gamecube.
Normally i'm not into military types of games but MGS is very different, it tells a good, weird convuluted tale, and well... I live for that shit.
I love weird convuluted tales, well even if they arent convoluted, weird is good.
That is of course..... unless your david lynch, if your a david lynch film then youve got a level of weird that even i cant relate to.
Especially when you consider characters like the log lady, what kind of drugs was david smoking when he came up with this. I mean comeon she sounds like shes out of some greasy transexual porno.
And in mulholland dr naomi watts crying and masturbating at the same time for no apparent reason then the film going on as if it was important to the film. I could go on forever, piss on you david lynch. NExt time i watch one of your films i will be yelling at my tv screen so loud that the neighbours will come over telling me to shut the fuck up only to be shown this mess of a creation of yours and them leaving me in peace.

Anyway, games... yes... Metal Gear Solid 4 is definatly one of the main reasons for me owning a ps3, the wait has become so unbearable that i've reactivated my WoW account because i need to get lost in something for about a months worth of time, and i know that if anything can do it its wow.

The second shittiest candy on earth

The first, of course, as stated all too truthfully by Lewis Black, is none other than Candy Corn....this one isn't too far behind.

So i'm on shift yesterday, and i noticed we'd gotten new candies...

I went over to the rack, and took a look, and i found what i thought was the most bizarre confectionery i'd ever seen...it's called lightning bugs. it's shitty gummy bugs, with plastic tongs with a light in them...when you grab the bug, it lights the bug up....fucking weird, right?

I bought one, just so i could check it out, and write about it.....i know it's not a political article like i promised, but they're coming....really they are...

So i got it home, and took pictures....i'll walk you through this disaster...

Photobucket

Here's the front of the package....the really interesting shit's on the back though....

Photobucket

here on the back, we have instructions (if your candy includes instructions, you probably shouldn't be eating it.), the ingredients list (shit, shit, and oh look, more shit), the nutritional facts (as if there's ANY nutritional value whatsoever anywhere in this package....stupid fucking governmental labeling standards.), a graphic assuring the buyer that it's "safety tested" (holy fuck, when's the last time you saw a candy that needed to be safety tested?), and below that, a series of warnings and graphics about how even though it's safe, you still shouldn't give it to small children, or old people (honestly folks....batteries and candy don't fucking mix...if your candy has batteries, you probably shouldn't be eating it)

Photobucket

So here's the whole package opened up....shitty little bug candies, and electro-shock tongs included....could they have picked a more effeminate color for the fucking tongs?....seriously....purple?

Photobucket

Here are the tongs....note the label that says "Electronic Tongs", with the little picture of the lightning bolt on it...the international warning symbol for electrical shock hazards....and the pull tab warning you to remove it before use.....not very reassuring...

Photobucket

Here's a shot of the little light inside....it's a simple setup....a high intensity red LED, wired to a small watch battery in the round part of the tongs...

Photobucket

Here's a shock, i mean shot of it in action..

Photobucket

and lastly a shot of most of the bugs in the bag all stuck together.....yes, i ate the whole fucking thing, just as it was...

all in all this is the craziest idea for a candy i've ever seen.....i'm sure only the japanese rival this product's manufacturer in terms of pure insanity....i'll hafta take a trip there sometime to find out..

Another thing i wanted to rant on real fast has to do with these fucking nutritional information labels on everything....is it just me, or is it getting really goddamn annoying?

I was hanging out with my best friend last weekend, and i got a big mac at the local mcdonalds.....after i was done, i was playing with the carton, and i'll be damned if there wasn't a fucking nutritional information panel printed on the bottom of the fuckin' thing....folks, i don't need a NI panel to tell me that the shit isn't good for me...i already fucking know. shit like this is becoming an epidemic in this country.....everything's gotta be politically correct, safety packaged, and properly labeled for the dumb masses, who can't think for themselves anymore....everyone's suing everyone for everything these days....got a fat kid? sue mcdonalds, or burger king, or hell, sue em' both....too stupid to live? sue the state for having a rubbish school system...too ugly? sue your parents for having rubbish genes.....honestly, what the fuck?

Political articles coming very soon...i promise (note to staff: you hear that, you fuckers? don't make a liar out of me, lol)

Coming Soon...

Well, it's that time again......

Yes, the U.S. presidential elections are coming up....oh yay...

Not that it matters who's running, Diebold voter fraud machines will decide the outcome, but hey, this gives us an excuse to write political pieces (shit, writing about monkeys skeeting babies into each other's assholes would be more productive than the months of nothing on this blog since 9/11/07). So coming soon will be a series of political articles by myself, Kiona, Cameron, and Daniel. We'll be posting articles like these throughout the election season, right up until "the powers that be" (see: "not us") tell us who've they've chosen to be our new leader. Don't worry, for those of you who don't like "boring political stuff", we'll still be writing about other stuff from time to time........honestly though, the political stuff is important... :p

ok, enough of my ranting...i'm off..

In Memoriam...and stuff

A moment of silence, if you please, in memory of all those lost on 9/11/01, and everyone lost since then, in the fraudulent war in the middle east.

Thank you.

So. another year goes by, and we're not attacked again. what a big surprise. Oh well, there's always the 14th. I read a news article recently that said that the USAF was grounding all flights on the 14th of this month, while they investigate how nuclear weapons could have been accidentally loaded onto a cargo plane, and flown across the country last month.

Call me crazy, but wouldn't the best time to investigate how that happened be like RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED?! not like two weeks later?

And what's more, should we maybe NOT be publicizing the fact that we're grounding shit? I don't know if the grounding is for ALL USAF planes or just the big ones that can be accidentally loaded with nukes, but still, i don't think we should be putting that information out there. If there are terrorists out there paying attention, shit like this just screams "HEY, COME ATTACK US NOW!"

::shakes head:: I dunno....maybe it's time to move out of the country....somewhere where it's quiet...somewhere where when people start lobbing nukes at each other, i won't get dead or sick...

Oy, That Didn't Take Long at All...

Over at the African American Women's Blog Black Looks the author Kym Platt successfully manages to forgo any semblance of "intelligence" and start fear mongering about a certain zombie game featuring black enemies. That's right, I'm referring to Resident Evil 5. I was wondering when someone would finally try to make a big deal out of it.

I've broken down her oooh so succinctly stupid post in short, with replies.

"The new Resident Evil video game depicts a white man in what appears to be Africa killing Black people."

Black zombies, first point. Secondly, its placed in Africa, most primarily because its a plot point. The "zombie virus" is based partially off of the real-life Ebola virus, which *gasp* originated in Africa. Not to mention the fact that when its a white man killing white zombies (previous 4 games) its OK. Heck, in Resident Evil Outbreak, you have a black man killing white zombies, and that's apparently OK. Double standard much?

"The Black people are supposed to be zombies and the white man’s job is to destroy them and save humanity. “I have a job to do and I’m gonna see it through.”"

No, they're not supposed to be zombies, they are zombies, or the like. Whatsmore, this white man is a recurring character from the series. Funniest thing? This game is being made by asians.

"This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young… fearing, hating, and destroying Black people."

So the depiction of white people (love the capitalization of the B in Black there) as inhuman savages in the 4 previous games and various offshoots wasn't problematic? Why may I ask? Is it ok to kill white people and not black people? Hmmmm. Is that the contention I'm seeing here? Even more hilarious, is the idea that the game will probably be rated MA, ie. children and young adults won't be able to purchase it... unless mommy or daddy buys it for them. Hardcore pornography appeals to young adults too, doesn't mean its being specifically marketed at them.

My advice? Stop fear-mongering and worry about some real racism.
