Well, I might as well get right down to it. I'd prefer to be called Al, Alfred or even Alf, on this blog. I'm an artist of many mediums. I can tend to be rather blunt with my opinions, especially when directed towards films, art, and politics. Though politics ain't my strong suit, I still know where I stand on certain issues.I'm a cinephile. I work in the film and television industry so I cannot help but surround myself in the latest cinema topics. Been fresh in the field for almost two years now. Graduated college in 2005 while in New Jersey and moved back to Providence. I'm biding my time with writing, acting and working behind-the-scenes as a videographer, first assistant director and editor, just not all on the same gig. I've been recently dabbling into the 8mm and VHS to DVD market, since there is a lot of business there. I've got a wonderful girlfriend of a year now. She is most definitely the one, and we plan to move in together once the summer comes our way. We'll be expanding our business and hopefully putting some well-earned cash aside in a constant search for something better (like a nice big house). She's my rock, I'm not afraid to tell her I love her over the phone in front of my friends. Two years ago, while in college, I was a completely different person: chasing the girls around like a horny little freshman. I guess the year inbetween before I met her I had a lot of time to change, to journey inward and really find myself. So here I am now, on the raggedy edge. I'm proud of who I am, just not excessively. I think I've got talent; whether it be behind the camera, in front, or sitting at the keyboard. I hope I get to show you in the coming months.
I was a painter during my artsy college days, and once I have a new place and some extra room, I may dabble in it again. I like to think I'll get back into reading books; something I've been telling myself since last summer. But I know I can change; instead of tossing and turning for hours on end in the wee hours of the eve, I'll stick my nose in a few pages to wear the mind down. I'm an avid photographer and the photo above was shot on an expedition to the concrete jungle known as New York City. I was considering posting a different one each time I make a post on here, because visualization just ain't all about letters, sentences and a clever use of prose in these blogs. I'd love to add some of my own visual appeal into the mix.
I ain't expecting open arms and group hugs from you lads. But I want to extend my support in all that you're doing. "The role of a writer is not to say what we all can say, but what we are unable to say."
Thanks for the invitation, and I look forward to future writing endeavors. I aim to misbehave.
